Last year’s semifinalists retain three players for Season 2
It is a new season and new beginning and Daring Doves in their quest for glory go into the Cello Maharashtra Badminton League 2012 auction with an aim of buying four players.
For MBL Season-2, Daring Doves owned by Pratham Motors have retained just three players from last year’s squad. Those retained include - Eshan Naqvi, Subhankar Dey and Varun Khanwalkar, while those making way are Trupti Murgunde, Sanyogita Ghorpade, Gandhar Marathe and Shlok Ramchandran.
While the kitty for this year’s auction is Rs. 3 lakh, the four players Daring Doves will pick up will be from the Rs. 1,40,400 avaiability, which is reduced owing to the franchisee deciding to retain players.
While the auction is scheduled on Sunday, 6rd May, 2012 it will be interesting as to who Daring Doves manage to net and make their team.
This year MBP-2 will as usual be held at the PDMBA Courts at the Modern Complex, Shivajinagar. The tournament has been shortened in duration and will be held from 26th May to 3rd June.
Seven teams, includes Daring Doves, will vie for top honors this year. The other six include: Fiery Falcons, a new team and new owners, Gorgeous Gannets, which has a new owner in Mr. Gajendra Pawar of Pinnacle Group, Lifetime Linnets, also a new team with new owners, Inspiring Eagles (co-owned this year by Dhaval Shah, Siddharth Mayur of Jain irrigation and Narendra Firodia, last year’s winners Sensational Skylarks, who will defend their title for new-owners PNG Real Estate) and Graceful Gulls.
